Apply Now: 2025–2027 GCSP Polymath Fellowship on AI & Cybersecurity
Opportunities at the intersection of AI and Cybersecurity
We’re excited to share an opportunity from our friends at the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP): the 2025–2027 Polymath Fellowship.
It has been a busy season for the community, from the Vegas Forum to preparing for Tel Aviv, but we wanted to highlight this unique opportunity to contribute at the intersection of emerging technology and global policy.
The Polymath Fellowship is a two-year programme in Geneva that turns scientists and technologists into influential policy shapers. It is designed for professionals in AI, cybersecurity, synthetic biology and related fields who want to expand their impact beyond the lab into real-world governance and security.
The fellowship has a strong track record. Past fellows have published widely read research, appeared in major media outlets such as Vox and New Scientist, and produced concrete policy proposals now under discussion at the highest levels. Kevin Esvelt (MIT), a fellow from the first cohort, went on to publish high-impact work on defending against catastrophic pandemics, gain major media attention, and create policy frameworks that continue to shape the field.
For this next cohort, the primary focus is on the intersection of AI and cybersecurity, especially securing AI models. This includes protecting models from theft, tampering and misuse, ensuring secure deployment, and developing governance frameworks that address these challenges. Current policy approaches are not yet ready for this reality, and the fellowship is looking for people who can bridge the technical and policy worlds to close that gap.
There are two fellowships available: one in AI and one in Cybersecurity. Interdisciplinary backgrounds that combine these areas with fields like synthetic biology are especially encouraged.
Fellows will contribute to research, publications and international dialogue with policymakers in Geneva and beyond. The programme offers:
A tuition waiver
Access to GCSP’s global network of diplomats, policymakers and experts
Mentorship from senior leaders in the field
A platform to influence international policy on existential risks
If this sounds like a fit, or you know someone who might be interested, please apply or share the opportunity.
Deadline: 20 August 2025
